Old Fashioned!

I think some of this advice is narrow minded and old-fashioned. Piercing is not a trend, it is a personal decision which this article has no right to dictate. Whether to get a tattoo is also a personal choice and a big decision, it should not be taken lightly but again it IS a decision. I have one tattoo in a place that is easily hidden and I have never once regretted it, it has never held me back, if anything it gives me character and I am proud of it. I will admit that if you want to be a mainstream model it is good to appear as neutral as possible meaning no artistic modification to your body such as piercings and tattoos, otherwise it isn’t a problem unless you go too far with it.
If someone has low confidence about their breasts how dare anyone try to talk them out of changing them. Some people are quite happy with their bodies but do not tell someone they should not try to change, thus improving their confidence and self image.
A few pieces of advice here are common sense but I refuse to accept the advice I have mentioned and so would a few thousand successful models who have not done as you suggest.
Answer: Piercing is a trend. Most people with piercings take them out eventually and many are left with disfiguring scars, especially with piercings around the mouth and in the eyebrow.
Most people who get a tattoo regret it in later years so if would-be models who are considering getting a tattoo read this, think twice, and decide not to, it will save them some future distress. A permanent tattoo can’t help you as a model. If some body decoration is needed for a job, body-paint or a temporary tattoo can be used.
Breast implants never look right and do not last. They are not a solution to a woman’s lack of confidence in her breasts. There are a lot of cosmetic surgeons advertising to encourage women to get implants, so this is just presenting the other point of view.

Tips from Sparkles

- Be careful about finding an agency, if you have to pay to get started, do NOT do it. Check things out, don’t just say yes to anyone.
- Do not change yourself or who you are to suit them (the agency). If they don’t like you for you then don’t waste your time with them.
- If you’re uncomfortable wearing something or doing wacky things to your hair, don’t be a pushover, say no. Stick up for yourself, because if you don’t, who will?

I was offered a contract by Models Direct do you think it’s advisable to pay up the registration fees.
Answer: No. You should never have to pay a registration fee to a model agency.
Braces!

I was just wondering, would it be harder for people that have braces to get in? And should they wait til their braces come off to audition at all?
Answer: Don’t let braces stop you, some successful models started while still wearing braces.
Paying for Photographs

Hi, I have done a few photoshoots to start off my portfolio, I have heard that the agency should pay for you to get photos taken, I paid for myself. have I been mislead?
Answer: Not necessarily, but a good agency should be able to introduce you to a competent photographer who will take some photographs for a reasonable fee. Don’t pay a lot of money for your first portfolio pictures.
